Buccs Off-Season Review

1st Round - LCB Mackowski 33/55
3rd Round - LT Wolfe 20/50
5th Round - TE Turnbow 20/48
6th Round - C Malcolm 27/55 (Now RG)
6th Round - SS Perry 16/49
6th Round - C Diaz 19/53
7th Round - RT Tamburrino 12/39

LCB Mackowski will start as the 3rd CB but should start later in the season. LT Wolfe will start due to LT Ashworth reducing to 37/37 from 46/46. TE Turnbow complements TE Ruth and will feature in passing situations. RG (C) Malcolm will start at RG with last years starter Gurode released. SS Perry will be back-up at SS. C Diaz is the new back-up. Tamburrino will back-up RT. Currently no 'stunners' but a few current and future starters picked.

We re-signed Bulger on a 3 year deal but he fell to 69/69 from 75/75. Also, acquired two starting DT's through trades. A bit of inexperience in when players/positions start to fall maybe as both fell from low 60's to mid 50's over the off-season but are still both upgrades.

SE Harrison's retirement means, after re-signing Jackson we have three steady WR's. We're pretty solid everywhere with an above average QB and franchise RB. LG Snee should return and be at full fitness for the season opener and the OL will improve as the season goes on.

Not sure what to expect as, due to my inexperience, I am assuming we over-achieved last year. Looking forward to the season though. :)

New GM in Tampa

Approximately one week after taking over the GM role in Tampa Paul Beaumont held his first press conference.

"There's a lot of work to do as retirements have left us with some big gaps to fill, including both starting CBs, starting TE, and starting RG. Since starting we've also been re-negotiating contracts to free up so cap space to give us room to make some moves.

The defense is strong despite the problems at CB. Offensively, we lack a franchise QB but have a franchise RB so will look to build around Carnell. We've made preliminary contact with a few FA's and it will be interesting to see how the FA market plays out. Our inexperience here could leave us with too many holes to fill in the draft. We've had a brief look at the draft class but until we see how free agency goes we aren't targetting a particular area/player.

There's a lot of hard work ahead but we're confident that we're moving in the right direction and aim to put a quality product on the field for the people of Tampa."
